Catherine Ford is a British actress born in Bloomsbury. Following the time her father left her household, the actress was grew up by her mother, godparents, and grandmother. In her childhood Ford experienced anxiety related to an obsessional-compulsive condition. Ford was interested in the acting profession during her teen years, and was a part of the National Youth Theatre. She gained admission to the Sylvia Young Theatre School, but decided after a week that she wasn't a good choice for this school. Ford decided to apply instead at the Central School of Speech and Drama and eventually secured the position she wanted on her third try. Shaun Dingwall was one of Ford's fellow students. Shaun Dingwall would go on to have regular roles in the shows Pete Tyler and Doctor Who. Ford was able to graduate in 1993. She already had her TV debut in a 1992 episode of Surgical Spirit. She adopted the title Catherine Tate. Tate was featured in such TV shows such including The Bill, Men Behaving Badly as well as London Burning. Tate also regularly worked as a theatre actor and was eventually a part of the Royal Shakespeare Company during its season 2000-2001. Tate was recognized for her comedy stand-up, which was added to her resume in 1996.
